How You Can Support the Waverly Farmers’ Market Video
There are two ways to support this project. If you are in a position to make a donation, we could really use financial support. The second way to help is through volunteering, which is a great way to get to know your neighbors and make new friends.
If you are an experienced professional, you can use your skills to make a big difference in your community. If you are between jobs or just interested in learning new skills, this is a great opportunity to make contacts and learn from the experts. Everyone is welcome.
* Research/Scriptwriting
Conduct research on the history of the market, nutrition, local versus industrial farming practices, etc. Interview farmers and other experts in the field. Work with producer and director to identify the key messages to communicate.
* Production
Videographers, filmmakers, camera operators, production assistants, sound engineers, editors, etc. Everyone who wants to will get a chance to shoot footage and post it online. There is no guarantee it will be used in the final film, but everyone who shoots will receive a credit. (That means you will have your name listed as a camera operator in the credits at the end of the film.)
* Fundraising
Development directors, fundraisers, special event coordinators, and any else interested in hosting house parties, recruiting corporate sponsors, soliciting donors, planning fundraisers, or raising funds in other ways.
* Sales and Distribution
Sell videos (pre-sell at a discount), create distribution plan to make sure videos are seen by the target audience. Also work with fundraising on corporate underwriting.
* Outreach
People with experience or interest in marketing, public relations, promotions, media relations, social media, and anything else that will help us generate awareness, interest and support for the project.
* Volunteer Coordination
Recruit and schedule volunteers, coordinate communications, provide administrative support. We also need people to staff our information table at the market every week.
* Computer Tutors
Some of the people on our contact list can only be reached by mail because they do not have email. A few don’t have a phone. We need volunteers who can walk people through the process of signing up for an email account at Waverly library (for people who are interested in getting email for the first time).
* Rewrite Lyrics for Waverly Farmers Market Video Trailer!
Here's a starter lyric sheet you can use.
Why did we choose this song? "Take me out to the ball game" is royalty-free, people know it, and it'll be fun for the farmers to sing.

What To Do Next
Contact Eileen Gillan, executive director of the Megaphone Project, to let her know how you want to help and any experience you have. Email Eileen at eileen@megaphoneproject.org or call 410-409-3197 or talk to the volunteers at the Megaphone/Farmers Market Video information table at the market. We’re there every week. We also post project updates on Megaphone Project facebook page, on our website, www.megaphoneproject.org, and just started a website: www.farmersmarketvideo.org.
